Osypowski, 71
Peter Joseph Osypowski, 71, passed away on Jan. 10, 2013, in Gloucester,
Va.
He was born on Sept. 22, 1941, in Milwaukee, to Joseph and Esther
(Wisniewski) Osypowski.
Peter grew up in Campbellsport, where he graduated from Campbellsport
High School in 1959. After high school he joined the Army in 1960, where
he served as a medical laboratory specialist until he retired in 1983.
He worked as a consult for the World Health Organization, Pan-American
Health Organization and for the Brazilian Ministry of Health while in
the service. He received many medals and awards for good conduct, length
of service, marksmanship, and many others.
Upon retirement from the Army he worked as a research technician and
assistant graduate education director at the University of Wisconsin
Medical School at the Sinai Samaritan Medical Center in Milwaukee,
researching obstetrics and gynecology infectious diseases. He coauthored
multiple articles in various medical journals and books, and was often
invited to speak to medical students at Marquette University, testify in
criminal cases and speak at conferences. Upon taking an early retirement
he worked part time at Pick ’n Save until fully retiring in 2003. After
retirement he spent many days enjoying his hobbies and babysitting his
three granddaughters.
Peter’s hobbies included hunting and fishing. When he wasn’t doing
those, he could be found playing cards at the West Bend VFW or the
Senior Center.
Peter was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Esther
(Wisniewski) Osypowski.
Peter is survived by his son Michael (Laurie) Osypowski of Yorktown,
Va., grandchildren Ashley, Abigail and Amber Osypowski, brother Marty
(Jane) Osypowski of Campbellsport, and two sisters, Kathy (Richard)
Narwocki of Hartland and Joan (David) Lange of Milwaukee.
A Mass will be held at St Matthew Catholic Church, 406 E. Main St.,
Campbellsport, on Friday Jan. 25, 2013, at 11 a.m. A celebration of
Peter’s life will follow at the Osceola Town Hall from noon-4 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family would be appreciated.
