Martha M. Bintz, 95|
Martha M. Bintz (nee Kramer), 95, passed away on Monday, Jan. 21, 2013,
at the Samaritan Health Care Center in Washington County. The
granddaughter of settlers who survived the Peshtigo Fire in 1871 and the
sixth of 14 children, she was born in Lena, Wisconsin on July 16, 1917.
She married her beloved Joseph on April 23, 1936, at St. Charles
Catholic Church and then relocated to South Milwaukee. Joseph departed
on June 25, 1990.
During her lifetime, Martha worked at the Rockfield Canning Company,
AT&T telephone operator, Madelineís in Menomonee Falls, and Jackson
Hardware Inc. From 1962-1968, she co-owned Bintz Hardware in Richfield.
Martha was also a past president of the Christian Motherís of St. Mary
Parish in Richfield, a member of the Senior Friends in Hartford and a
volunteer at the Samaritan Health Care Center in West Bend. She was an
avid gardener and enjoyed bargain-hunting at rummage sales.
Martha is survived by her two children, Jeannette (Donald) Burg and
Timothy (Carol) Bintz; daughter-in-law, Carol Bintz; five grandchildren,
David Bintz, Robert Burg, Kathy Messier, Alan (Kristin) Bintz, and Sandy
Jones; four great-grandchildren, Aaron Messier, Ashley Messier, Gregory
Bintz, and Ryan Bintz; sisters, Theresa Severa, Margaret Wesling,
Madgeline Kobes, Charity (Charles) Kroeger, Delores Brown, Audrey Piper,
and Delores Hansen; a sister-in-law, Irene Demming; and nieces, nephews,
godchildren, and friends.
Martha is preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Josephine Kramer;
two children, Thomas Bintz and Barbara Bintz; four brothers, Richard,
Bernard, Anthony, and Charles Kramer; and three sisters, Irene Redding,
Kaye McGowan and Mary Sinacola.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Martha will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan.
25, 2013, at St. Peter Catholic Church, 200 E. Washington St. in Slinger
with the Rev. Richard Stoffel presiding. Visitation will be at the
church on Friday, Jan. 25, 2013, from 9:30-10:45 a.m. Interment will
follow at New St. Peterís Catholic Cemetery.
