Tom “Tima” Yogerst, 65, Oconto Falls, died Friday afternoon, Jan. 18, 2013, at home, surrounded by his family, following complications from a three year illness with pancreatic cancer He was born April 24, 1947, in West Bend to Andrew and Veronica (Bingen) Yogerst. “Tima” grew up in West Bend where he attended public schools, graduating from high school with the class of 1965.

On Oct. 16, 1982, he married Elisabeth Laabs in Franklin. Following their marriage the couple lived in Franklin and Illinois because of Tom’s 27-year employment with the container division of Schlitz Brewery. They retired to the Oconto Falls area in 1999 to live near family. Tom was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, Oconto Falls Lions Club and the Machickanee Sportsman’s Club. As a member of River Island Golf Course, he enjoyed golfing and socializing with his many friends during the entire golf season. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling and, most of all, spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors are his wife of 30 years, Elisabeth Yogerst, Oconto Falls; their two children, Amanda (Kyle) Rice, Oconto Falls; Brian (Alyssa) Yogerst, Mount Horeb; two grandchildren, Madigan Yogerst and Konner Thomas Rice; one brother, Gerry (Donna) Yogerst, Abrams; three sisters, Marilyn (Donald) Cayen, Fond du Lac; Sue Chapman, Stevens Point; Patti (Steve) Chovan, Green Bay; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father Andrew on Dec. 7, 1967, his mother Veronica on Dec. 10, 2012, 23year-old son Andrew Thomas Yogerst in 1992, and twin grandson Korbin Bradley Rice in 2006.

Visitation and prayer service were held Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, at Jones Funeral Service in Oconto Falls. Visitation was Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Oconto Falls, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at the church with the Rev. Joel Sember officiating. Burial took place at the Woodlawn Cemetery.

The Yogerst family would like to thank Dr. Michael Volk and staff of Green Bay Oncology, Dr. Scott Liebl, Dr. Keith Elkins and the staff of Unity Hospice for the care and consideration given to Tom during his illness.
