Ruth E. Mentzel, 78
E. Mentzel, 78, of Grafton, died early Thursday morning, June 27, 2013,
at Horizon Inpatient Hospice in Mequon.
She was born Nov. 22, 1934, in the town of Grafton, the daughter of
Elmer and Elsie Kroening Viesselmann. On Sept. 22, 1956, she married
Herbert Mentzel at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cedarburg. Ruth worked as
a dental assistant for 10 years, choosing to remain at home to raise her
daughter. She was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church in
Cedarburg and was active in the church choir, Sunday school, and
quilting group. She enjoyed spending time with her family and actively
participating in her grandchildren’s lives.
Survivors include her husband, Herbert; her daughter, Carrie (Russell)
Petranech of Grafton; her grandchildren, Anthony and Anya; two brothers,
Arthur (Margie) Viesselmann of Grafton and Elmer Viesselmann of Port
Washington; her brother-in-law, Allen (Diane) Mentzel; nieces, nephews,
other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by two sisters
and two brothers. Funeral services will be held today, July 2, at 7 p.m.
at Trinity Lutheran Church, N60 W6047 Columbia Road, Cedarburg.
Interment will be at Immanuel Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church
today from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Trinity Lutheran Church or American
Cancer Society are appreciated.

compassionate care shown to Ruth and her family.
