Carol M. Schaefer, 78


Carol M. Schaefer (nee Wolf), 78, of West Bend died Monday, July 8, 2013, at Heritage Nursing Home in Port Washington. She was born Oct. 28, 1934, in West Bend to the late Aloysius and Hilda (nee Wornardt) Wolf and married Loyal E. Schaefer on Oct. 25, 1952. Loyal preceded her in death on May 7, 1989.

Carol worked at the West Bend News before working as a clerk at Tri-Par Oil Company.

She loved to sew as impromptu visitors could attest to when finding hidden needle and thread in arms of chairs throughout her house. She spent many hours in bleachers and gymnasiums supporting her three sons’ athletic pursuits. Carol attended Peace U.C.C. in Kewaskum often transporting many friends who were no longer able to drive.

She is survived by her three sons: William (Belinda) of Northville, Mich., Michael of Green Bay and Mark (fiance Laurie) of Palatine, Ill., six grandchildren: Kyle, Abbey, Lacy, Michelle, Sam and Ben; and one great-grandson, Tristen. She is further survived by her brother, Robert of West Bend, her sister Patricia Schaefer of Hot Springs, Ark., and nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Carol is preceded in death by her parents, Alois and Hilda Wolf, her husband Loyal Schaefer, her brother William (Joan) Wolf, her sister Jean (John) Biersack and her sister-in-law Florence Wolf.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 13, 2013, at 2 p.m. at the Schmidt Funeral Home in West Bend with burial following in Washington County Memorial Park. Visitation will be Saturday, at the funeral home from 11:30 a.m.-1:45 p.m. Memorials to Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin are appreciated.
