Dorothy K. Curtiss (nee Gieschen), 91, passed away on March 5, 2013.
She was born Sept. 9, 1921 in Milwaukee, the daughter of the late Rev.
Theo and Kathryn (nee Schertel) Gieschen.
She was baptized into the Holy Christian Faith by her father, the Rev.
Theo Gieschen, and her grandfather, the Rev. Henry Gieschen of Jerusalem
Congregation. Following high school, she enlisted in the Women’s Army
Corp., stationed in New York City (New York Port of Embarkation). She
married Charlie Irvin on March 7, 1944. He passed away on Dec. 22, 1951.
She married Dennis Curtiss on Aug. 7, 1959. She was employed by the
Ladish Co. Tri-Clover Division in Kenosha in the Human Resources
Department as administrative coordinator for 29 years. They retired and
moved to West Bend in 1990 and was a member of St. Andrew Lutheran
Church, a member of the Altar Guild, L.W.M.L. and Ladies Fellowship.
She is survived by her husband, Dennis; daughter, Dawn (Rev. Bryan)
O’Connor; son, Stephen; grandchildren, Kathryn O’Connor, John
(Stephanie) O’Connor of Dallas; great-grandson, Danny O’Connor; sister,
Lenore of Union Grove; sister- in-law, Jennie Gieschen of Bend, Ore.;
and nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2013, at noon at
St. Andrew Lutheran Church (7750 Highway 144) with the Rev. Robert
Korytkowski and the Rev. Bryan O’Connor presiding. The visitation will
be held at church on Saturday, March 9, 2013, from 10:30 a.m. until the
time of service at noon. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may
be made to St. Andrew Lutheran Church.
