Peggy
A. Lindley (nee Johnson), 92, passed away on March 12, 2013. She was
born on Sept. 26, 1920, in St. Louis, to the late Thomas and Bonnie (nee
Bulliner).
She graduated as a registered nurse from Missouri Baptist Hospital
School of Nursing in 1942. She worked as a nurse manager of surgery at
hospitals in St. Louis, Lincoln, Neb., Cincinnati, and retired in 1990
as the surgical supervisor at St. Joseph Hospital in West Bend at the
age of 70.
Peggy married Harold Lindley on Sept. 3, 1955, in Norwood, Ohio, and
moved to West Bend. She enjoyed retirement by playing cards, feeding and
watching birds, listening to Bob Uecker broadcast Brewer games, and
spending time with her family. Peggy was proud of her years at St.
Joseph’s and always spoke fondly of her coworkers.
She is survived by her children, Steven (Sheryl) of West Bend, Bonnie
(Dan) Helm of Jackson; grandchildren, Thomas (Audra Krenn) Lindley,
Peter Lindley, Scott (Holly) Helm, Shaina Helm; great-grandchildren,
Jayden, Audryana, and Lucas Helm, Owen Lindley; sister, Hilda (Ed)
Wheatley; brothers, James Johnson, Larry (Doris) Johnson; sisters-
in-law, Pat Johnson and Ellen Gasner; and many nieces, nephews, other
relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Harold;
stepmother, Vera Johnson; brother, Thomas; sister- in-law, Gertrude
McCoy; and brothers-in-law, Marvin Gasner and Don McCoy.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, March 15, 2013, at 7 p.m. at
Phillip Funeral Home Chapel (1420 W. Paradise Drive, West Bend), with
the Rev. Jerry Presuhn presiding. The visitation will be held at the
funeral home on Friday, March 15 from 5 p.m. until the time of service
at 7 p.m. Interment will take place at Washington County Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Puppyland
Humane Society (3456 Highway D, West Bend, WI 53090), Washington County
Humane Society (3680 Highway 60, Slinger, WI 53086) or a charity of your
choice.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at
Riverway Place for all their loving care, Dr. Zoran Gajic and staff, and
to her friends on South 15th Avenue in West Bend.
