George W. Kraemer,
84
George W. Kraemer, 84, of West Bend, passed away peacefully March 15,
2013, at the Kathy Hospice.
He was born on Dec. 30, 1928, to the late John and Laura (nee Hoelz)
Kraemer in Sussex. He attended grade school in Sussex and graduated from
Waukesha High School. He served the U.S. Army after World War II
including a tour of duty in Japan. George spent the bulk of his career
in traffic management and in the canning industry.
He married the love of his life, Nancy Stier, on April 29, 1950. George
had a love of sports, especially baseball. Nancy and George were
selected the 2006 Land O’ Lakes “fans of the year.” He was especially
proud of being inducted into the Sussex Baseball Hall of Fame. He loved
spending time with his grandchildren: telling stories, reading to them
and watching them participate in numerous activities. George enjoyed
woodworking and bird watching. Some of his favorite memories were the
“Kraemerfests” and “Man weekends” up north. George was preceded in death
by his son Jay. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Nancy; his sons,
Joel (Jane), Bill (Jody) and Ben (Pat), daughter Katy, and daughter-
in-law Maggy Kuhn; grandchildren, Antonia (George) Stone, Maria (Matt)
Karst, Josh Kuhn-Kraemer, Jackie Kraemer, Julie (Bob) Davis, Erik (Jen)
Kraemer, Kristin (Adam) Krenek, Joelle, Claire, Emma, Elizabeth and one
unborn granddaughter; and great-grandchildren, George V, Shelby, Lily,
Amelia, Carter, Jillian, Henry, Caleb, Adalyn, Alegra, and three unborn
great-grandchildren.
A celebration of George’s life will be held at the Columbian, 3245
Lighthouse Lane, town of Barton on Wednesday, March 20 from 4-8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made out to the West Bend Baseball
Association, or the charity of your choice.
