Robert W. Quaas, 94
Robert “Bob” W. Quaas became an angel on Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at
the age of 94 years.
Bob was born on Nov. 9, 1918, to Emil and Helena (nee Widmer) Quaas. He
was born and raised in West Bend graduating as an honor roll student from
West Bend High School, class of 1937. After school, he worked on the
family farm. Bob married Clara Janz on May 17, 1947, in West Bend. In
1952, he began doing construction work and eventually custom woodworking.
Bob enjoyed playing the saxophone and clarinet in a polka band for over 25
years. He also worked at the town of West Bend Landfill for over 12 years.
Bob was a member of the West Bend Moose Lodge 1398 for 50 years. He
enjoyed fishing and was a real sports fanatic both playing and supporting
Bob is survived by his wife of 65 years, Clara. He is further survived by
his special nephew Richard (Sharon) Quaas; sisters-inlaw Shirley Peters
and Eleanora Janz; brother-inlaw Clarence (Dorothy) Janz; and many nieces,
nephews, relatives, and dear friends. Bob is preceded in death by his
parents Emil and Helena; brother Henry (Berthine) Quaas; in-laws Jacob and
Irma Janz; brothers-in-law Alvin (Norma) Janz, Carroll Janz, and Sylvester
Peters; and sisters-in-law Hazel Schaefer and Lucille (Elroy) Gatzke.
A memorial service for Bob will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 23, 2013,
at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel, 1420 W. Paradise Drive, in West Bend.
Gathering will take place at the funeral home from noon until 1:45 p.m. on
Saturday, March 23, 2013. Private interment of cremains will take place at
Washington County Memorial Park at a later date.
The family wishes to express a special thank you to the West Bend Rescue
Squad, Dr. James Froehlich, and the doctors, nurses, and staff in the
Intensive Care Unit at Froedtert St. Joseph’s Hospital in the town of
Polk for all their care and compassion for Bob during his stay.
