Martha A. See, 66



Martha A. See (nee Hurley), age 66, of West Bend, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, March 24, 2013. Her strong will to live and the love and prayers of family, friends, and many supporters carried her through her grueling battle with cancer.

Martha was born in Rockford, Ill., the daughter of John and Margaret Hurley. Margaret married Emmett Benson in 1955, and he became the one man Martha would ever call “Dad.” She graduated from South Division High School in Milwaukee with the class of 1964 On April 24, 1965, she united in marriage with Arthur Bert See, II at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Milwaukee. In 1976, they moved to their first and only home in West Bend.

She earned her associate's degree in medical records from Moraine Park Technical College in 1985 and worked for St. Joseph’s Hospital in Milwaukee. She served as assistant vice president of Cancer Registry Services for Pyramid Healthcare Solutions until her retirement shortly before her passing. In her spare time she enjoyed reading and spending time with family and friends, especially at Walden — A Supper Club.

Beloved wife of Arthur B. See, II of West Bend; loving mother of four children, Jeffrey (Jennifer) See of Oshkosh, Wendy (Andrew) Swenarski, Christopher (Stacy) See of Menomonee Falls and Rebecca (Regan) Ciriacks of Wisconsin Rapids; two sisters, Sharron (Rod) Rasmussen of Muskego and Susan (the late Steven) Wronski of Milwaukee; adopted sister of Dianne (Stanley) Kopaczewski of Greendale; mother-in-law Theresa E. See; sisters-in-law Theresa Richter (friend Barbara) and Mary (Kelly) Schmid; and brother- in-law Steve Hite of Jacksonville, Fla. Dear grandmother of 10 grandchildren, Steven Jepson, Tessa (John) Beimborn, Spencer Ciriacks, Kaitlyn See, Morgan Ciriacks, Meghan See, Jordan Swenarski, Emmett See, Ethan See and Addison See; one great-grandchild, Aubree Beimborn; and many nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family members.

She is preceded in death by her father, Emmett Benson, mother, Margaret Benson, sister, Judy Hite of Jacksonville, Fla., and father-in-law, Arthur B. See, I.

A funeral service for Martha will be at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 27, 2013, at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel, 1420 W. Paradise Drive in West Bend. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 4-6:45 p.m. on Wednesday, March 27, 2013. Private entombment will take place at Washington County Memorial Park.

The family feels deeply grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support in many forms from too many people to name individually, but including: Hospice — the amazing Horizon team, family, and friends — either through prayer, cards, and/or visits. A special you to Kim McLaughlin of Horizon Home Hospice Care who formed a special bond with Martha and helped her navigate this last, difficult journey.
