Anthony P. Ritger,
P. “Tony” Ritger, 86, of Allenton was born to eternal life at his home
on May 2, 2013, surrounded by the love of his wife and family. He was
born June 25, 1926, in Allenton to Gerhard and Gertrude (nee Aufdermauer)
Ritger and married Lillian M. Peters on June 21, 1950, at Holy Angels
Catholic Church in West Bend.
Tony was a lifetime family farmer. He was a member of the Knights of
Columbus for over 55 years, first with the Fr. Casper Rehrl Council 1964
in West Bend before becoming a charter member of the Unity Council 12743
St. Lawrence/Allenton. Tony volunteered his time as a church usher and
cemetery sexton and worked for the town of Addison.
He was a proud member of the Allenton Fire Department.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 62 years, Lillian; 10
children: Paul (Marie) of West Bend, Robert (Casilda) of Milwaukee,
Margaret (John) Kohl of Waukesha, Helen (James) Grimes of Cambridge,
Charles (LuAnn Lonergan) of Kiel, John (Judy) of West Bend, Mary Ritger
of Valley City, N.D., Bernard (Debbie) of Fond du Lac, Francis (Renee)
of Newton and Lucy (Arvind) Mattoo of Westport, Conn.; 24 grandchildren
with one expected; and 19 great-grandchildren with one expected. He is
further survived by his siblings: Leroy, Herbert (Shirley), Mary Ellen
Schulz and Peter (Beverly); brothers-in-law and sisters-inlaw: Harriet
Peters, Aloys (Edna) Peters, Francis (Rita) Peters and Henrietta
(Joseph) Schnitzler; and nieces, nephews and other relatives, and
He is preceded in death by his parents, Gerhard and Gertrude Ritger; two
sisters: Frances (Donald) Rettler and Marcia (Ronald) Jerde; a
brother-in-law Donald Schulz; and a sisterin- law Imelda Ritger.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, May 11, 2013, at 11
a.m. at Resurrection Catholic Church in Allenton with the Rev. Richard
Stoffel presiding. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday, at the Schmidt Funeral Home in West Bend from
4 p.m. until a prayer vigil at 6:45 p.m. and also Saturday, at
Resurrection Catholic Church from 9-10:45 a.m. In lieu of flowers
memorials to the Resurrection Renovation Fund or the charity of the
donor’s choice are preferred.
Tony’s family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff
of Grace Hospice for their kind and compassionate care and to all who
offered prayers and other acts of kindness.
