Roy J. Meyer, 88


Roy J. Meyer of Jackson went home to our Lord on Saturday, May 11, 2013, with his family by his side at the age of 88 years. He was born on Aug. 22, 1924, in Sheboygan to the late Christ and Mary (nee Nehrbass) Meyer.

During World War II, Roy proudly served his country with the United States Army. Following his discharge, he returned to southeastern Wisconsin and later became employed at Briggs & Stratton in the Milwaukee area. After 38 years of faithful employment, he retired as a production supervisor.

On Aug. 13, 1949, he was united in marriage to Mary Ellen Fischer in Saukville.

In addition to being a loving husband, father and grandfather, he was an avid gardener and loved to fish, hunt, and travel.

Survivors include his beloved wife Mary; his cherished children Sandy Sella, Beverly, Daniel (Bonnie) and Dennis (Therese); grandchildren Robert (Nikki), Benji (Chelsey) and Josh; great-grandchildren Macey, Savannah and Spencer; a sister Ruth Roskopf; and other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Doris (Orville) Klumb and a brother-in-law John Roskopf.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 16 at 7 p.m. at Our Saviourís United Church of Christ, W172 N12533 Division Road, Germantown. Burial will be Friday in Washington County Memorial Park. The family will greet relatives and friends during a period of visitation at the church only on Thursday from 4-6:45 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
