Bernice M. Wiedmeyer (née Doerfert), 89, of Theresa, passed away on
Monday, May 27, 2013, at the Aurora Medical Center in Hartford.
She was born Aug. 26, 1923, in Hartford to Felix and Alma (nee Lenz)
Doerfert. Bernice was united in marriage to Frank Wiedmeyer on June 17,
1941, at St. Kilian Catholic Church in Hartford.
She was a member of St. Peter and Paul Church in Nenno and more recently
St. Theresa in Theresa. She was a member of the Farm Bureau. Bernice
loved vegetable and flower gardening. She had a very healthy approach to
her eating and well-being. Bernice loved playing lots of cards
especially sheepshead. She did some traveling and liked that very much.
She loved her family and all the grandchildren the great grandchildren
and great great grandchild.
Bernice is survived by her children Lucille (Harvey) Rettler of
Hartford, Elaine (Fred) Strupp of West Bend, Jane Jensen of Hartford,
Robert (Judy) Wiedmeyer of Allenton, Ronald (Rita) Wiedmeyer of Theresa,
Eugene (Bonnie) Wiedmeyer of Battle Creek, Mich. and Dorothy (Jerome)
Bruckert of Theresa. She is also survived by 25 grandchildren; 56
great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and her brothers
Willard (Anna Mae) Doerfert of Sun Prairie and Lawrence (Jean) Doerfert
of Hustisford. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other
relatives and friends.
Bernice was preceded in death by her husband, Frank, parents and a
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 31, 2013, at 7 p.m.
at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, (302 S. German St.) in Mayville with the
Rev. Thomas Biersack officiating. Family will greet relatives and
friends on Friday at the church only from 4 p.m. until the 7 p.m. mass.
Interment will be in St. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Nenno at 10 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Holy Hill Shrine or the charity of
one’s choice would be appreciated.
