Marcella A. Dewitz,
Marcella “Susie” A. Dewitz (nee Franke), 92, of Mayville, formerly of
Iron Ridge, passed away peacefully on Monday, Nov. 4, 2013, at Hospice
Home of Hope in Fond du Lac.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, Nov. 7, at 2 p.m. at St.
John’s Ev. Lutheran Church, Mayville, with the Rev. James Mallmann and
the Rev. Sean Willman officiating. A visitation will be held on
Thursday, Nov. 7, from noon-2 p.m. at the church in Mayville. Burial
will take place at the Graceland Cemetery in Mayville.
Susie was born the daughter of George and Adela (nee Giese) Franke on
Dec. 3, 1920, in the town of Herman. Susie was united in marriage to
Walter E. Dewitz on June 28, 1947, in the town of Herman.
She was employed at Micro Design in Hartford until she retired. She was
a member of St. John Ev. Lutheran Church in Mayville. Susie was a member
of the VFW Auxiliary No. 10170 where she held many offices, and also a
member of the Beaver Dam DAV Auxiliary. In her spare time, Susie enjoyed
sewing, baking and crocheting.
Susie is survived by her children, Sandra (Larry) Kohrt of Mayville and
Jean (Rich) Binkus of West Palm Beach, Fla.; one daughter-in-law, Bonnie
Legate of Iron Ridge; five grandchildren, Jacqueline (Chad) Westover,
Melanie (fiancé Tyler Killman) Stratman, Dustin Bensley, Joshua (fiancée
Tammy Jahns) Dewitz, and Angel (Eric) Zurn; one sister, Gladys Miller of
Mayville; one brother, Marvin (Darlene) Franke of Mayville; and 13
great-grandchildren. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other
relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 2001; her son,
James; grandson, Travis Oresnik; four brothers, Erwin, Elsmer, Lester
and Ivan; and three sisters Verona, Bernice and Beatrice.
Memorials may be made to St. John’s Building Fund.
Koepsell Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Mayville is serving the
