Mary L. McDermott,
L. McDermott, nee Niehoff, formerly of West Bend, died on Saturday, Nov.
16, 2013, in St. Louis, Mo., at the age of 87 years. She was born on
April 3, 1926, in Milwaukee to the late Paul and Antoinette (nee Bodden)
On Aug. 31, 1946, she was united in marriage to James J. McDermott at
St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Woodhaven, N.Y. In 1977, they moved to
Wisconsin, settling in West Bend. James predeceased June 15, 2003.
For many years, she volunteered at the Samaritan Health Center. She also
was a member of the Christian Women’s Confraternity at Holy Angels
Survivors include four children, James J., Jr. (Darian) of Briarcliff
Manor, N.Y., the Rev. Robert T. of St. Louis, Kathryn (Albert)
Sorrentino of Charlotteville, N.Y., and John M. of Brookfield; three
grandchildren, Frank, Devon and Darby; and other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one
brother, Robert (Marion) Niehoff. Funeral services will be held on
Thursday, Nov. 21 at 6 p.m. at Becker-Ritter Funeral Home, 14075 W North
Ave., Brookfield, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 6:30 p.m. at St.
Mary Visitation Catholic Church, 1260 Church St., Elm Grove. Interment
will be in St. Theresa Cemetery, Theresa. Visitation will be at
Becker-Ritter Funeral Home on Thursday from 2-6 p.m.
