Vincent Brunner, 89|
Vincent “Shorty” Brunner, 89, of Fredonia, died in the early morning hours on Thursday, Nov. 21, 2013, at the Harbor Club. He was born in Milwaukee on Oct. 5, 1924, to the late Jonas “Jack” and Ruth (nee Sackett) Brunner. Shorty married Lucille (nee Goeppert) on April 26, 1952, and settled in Fredonia to raise their family. He retired from Leeson Electric in 1989.
His hobbies were fishing and woodworking. Shorty’s passion through the years was playing music. He started playing the drums in the 1950s. Together with his cousin, Jim Brunner, and Roger Uhrmann, they formed the Rhythm-Aires. Later he went on to form Shorty’s Polka Pals, performing publicly for more than 40 years.
Shorty is survived by his wife Lucille, children Virginia (Mike) Lamb of New Castle, Pa., James “Bruno” (Bev) of Cedar Grove, Jerome “Mouse” (Nancy) of Random Lake and Ray (Cheri) of Porterfield. He is further survived by his grandchildren Erica Neubauer, Ed Kreis Jr., Elizabeth (Haywood) Canada, Sheila, Mike (Angie), Mike Bruni, Katie (Ryan) Tiefenthaler, Kyle, Curtis (Tiffany), Cory; seven great-grandchildren; one great great-granddaughter; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter Tina Marie and sister Beatrice.
A funeral service will be at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2013, at Vineyard Community Church of Grafton (1597 Ozaukee County Highway V) with the Rev. Pat Mulcahy presiding. Visitation will be at the church only on Wednesday, Nov. 27 from 3 p.m. until time of service (5:30 p.m.).
