Thomas W. Laufer, 73


Thomas “Tom” W. Laufer, 73, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013. He was born on May 28, 1940, to the late Mark and Agatha (nee Esselman) in West Bend. He graduated from West Bend High School. He married Shirley (nee Fohl) on Sept. 4, 1965, at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Marshfield. He retired from the Washington County Highway Department in 1998. He loved going to Lake Camelot, playing Blackjack at the casino and, above all, spending time with his family.

He is survived by wife of 48 years, Shirley; children, William (Michele) Laufer, Theodore Laufer, and Jan (Jason) Janz; grandchildren, Emily and Sarah Laufer, Tyler Laufer, and Sean, Mark and Jon Janz; siblings, Doris Backes, Beverly Winkler, Eugene (Glenda) Laufer, Kay (Harvey) Wester, James Laufer and Sandy (Tony) Laufer Blake; and sister- in-law, Betty Beining. He is further survived by other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by brothers- in-law and sisters- in-law, Daniel Backes, John Winkler, Noreen Laufer, Sandy Laufer and Jerry Beining. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013, at 11:30 a.m. at Holy Angels Catholic Church (138 N. Eighth Ave., West Bend) with the Rev. Jerry Brittain presiding. The visitation will be held at the church on Saturday, Oct. 5 from 9 a.m. until the time of Mass at 11:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice, in memory of Tom.
