Neil E. Park

Neil E. Park of Hartford passed away Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2013, at the age of 90 years. He was born in Hartford on April 15, 1923, the son of Clyde and Laura (nee Twetten) Park. Neil served his country in World War II in the Army Air Corps as a bombardier. His plane was shot down and he was interned in Sweden for six months. After the service, he entered Marquette Dental School. In 1952 he re-entered the Army, attained the rank of captain and was stationed in Germany. Neil married Dorothy See on March 1, 1952 at Fort Dix in New Jersey. After returning to the states, he returned to Hartford and set up his dental practice, where he practiced for 40 years.

He was very active in the Hartford community. Neil was a member of the Hartford Lions Club, sang in the Hartford First United Methodist Church choir and served as a board member for Hartford Savings Bank for many years.

He is survived by his loving wife Dorothy of 61 years; his children, Krista (Thomas) Hoffmann of Hartford, Stephen (Rose) Park of Slinger, Karen (Kurt Sieman) Park of Eau Claire and Gregory (Diane) Park of Fond du Lac; and his loving grandchildren, Lindsay (Shane) Becker, Cassidy (Cristy) Hoffmann, Cortney Hoffmann, Michael Park, Kathryn (Brian) Kavanugh , Kyle Park, George Metropulos, Emily (Charles) Thurner, Nicholas Park, Tyler (Garrett) Pausma and Thomas Pausma; six great-grandchildren; his sister, Lois (Walter) Brager of Texas; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his brother, Clifton Park.

Visitation is Sunday, Oct. 20, from 2-4:30 p.m. at the Hartford First United Methodist Church, 738 W. Monroe Avenue. Funeral service will follow at church at 4:30 p.m. The Rev. Paul Johnsen will officiate. Interment Monday, Oct. 21 at 10 a.m. at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Hartford.
