After a hard fight, William Alexander Schroeder, at the age of 86, passed away at Kathy’s Hospice on Thursday, Oct. 17, 2013.
He was the loving husband of Patricia (nee Seelow); and father of Cynthia (James) Moser and William (Mary) Schroeder; grandfather to Sara (Josh) Janzer, Katie (Andrew) Nichols, William (Heather) Schroeder, Jennifer Schroeder and Ben Janzer; and great-grandfather to Luke, Madelyn and Billy. He is further survived by brothers, Robert (Barb) Schroeder Sr. and Jack (Pat) Schroeder; four nephews, family and friends.
He was preceded in death by sons, Michael John and Christopher John; and grandson, Michael Christopher.
He was born in Milwaukee on March 6, 1927, to Juergen and Gertrude (Horn) Schroeder. Bill was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin Madison, attended the New York Naval Academy and was a retired lieutenant commander of the U.S. Navy. He served as the Ozaukee County Board chairman from 1974 to 1987 and was a member of the Cedarburg Fire Department and American Legion.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, Oct. 24, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Advent Lutheran Church in Cedarburg.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society and the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
