Michael Joseph Vargo, 58

Michael Joseph Vargo of Cedarburg passed away peacefully on Saturday, Oct. 19, 2013, at Horizon Hospice Columbia St. Maryís Ozaukee Campus at the age of 58.

Mike was born in Pontiac, Mich., to Joseph S. and Mary Mayme (nee Butterwick) Vargo. He married Linda (nee Knieper) on Aug. 13, 1977, in Ann Arbor, Mich.

Mike graduated from Waterford High School in 1973 and graduated from ITT Technical College with an Associate degree in Electronics Engineering Technology in 1975.

Mike started out his career with Johnson Controls Inc. during his two years at ITT as a part-time draftsman. Over time, he became involved with automating control systems for large buildings and complexes and was in on the ground floor of energy conservation through these systems. He also was one of the first to embrace computers as the new tool of the future and helped to plan and implement his departmentís intranet system.

He left Johnson Controls in 1994 and started his next career as an instructor of computer systems and taught Novell, Citrix and Microsoft coursewear to hundreds of students from many different companies throughout the U.S. His love of anything involving cutting edge technology was what made him an excellent instructor, since it inspired his students, as well. His next career was to be retirement and photography, but sadly, he was not given the time to fulfill his dream.

He is survived by his wife, Linda, of Cedarburg; daughter, Andrea Laura of Minneapolis; other relatives and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held today, Oct. 24, at 3 p.m. at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church North, 1375 Covered Bridge Road. Cedarburg. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church today from 1:30 p.m. to 2:45 p.m.
