Joseph Vargo of Cedarburg passed away peacefully on Saturday, Oct. 19,
2013, at Horizon Hospice Columbia St. Maryís Ozaukee Campus at the age
Mike was born in Pontiac, Mich., to Joseph S. and Mary Mayme (nee
Butterwick) Vargo. He married Linda (nee Knieper) on Aug. 13, 1977, in
Ann Arbor, Mich.
Mike graduated from Waterford High School in 1973 and graduated from ITT
Technical College with an Associate degree in Electronics Engineering
Technology in 1975.
Mike started out his career with Johnson Controls Inc. during his two
years at ITT as a part-time draftsman. Over time, he became involved
with automating control systems for large buildings and complexes and
was in on the ground floor of energy conservation through these systems.
He also was one of the first to embrace computers as the new tool of the
future and helped to plan and implement his departmentís intranet
He left Johnson Controls in 1994 and started his next career as an
instructor of computer systems and taught Novell, Citrix and Microsoft
coursewear to hundreds of students from many different companies
throughout the U.S. His love of anything involving cutting edge
technology was what made him an excellent instructor, since it inspired
his students, as well. His next career was to be retirement and
photography, but sadly, he was not given the time to fulfill his dream.
He is survived by his wife, Linda, of Cedarburg; daughter, Andrea Laura
of Minneapolis; other relatives and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held today, Oct. 24, at 3 p.m. at St.
Francis Borgia Catholic Church North, 1375 Covered Bridge Road.
Cedarburg. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be
held at the church today from 1:30 p.m. to 2:45 p.m.
