Robert A. Murray, age 77, of West Bend, found peace on Sept. 11, 2013 at the Samaritan Health Center. He was born on Nov. 15, 1935, to the late Roy and Rose (nee Stern) Murray, and graduated from West Bend High school in the class of 1953. During high school he worked at WMLO radio in 1949 and at WBKB radio in 1950. After high school in 1956 Bob worked at the West Bend Company in the printing department. Then he joined the Air Force and was stationed in Tachikawa Air force base in Japan from 1957 to 1959 and then at Andrews Air Force base from 1959 till 1961. He married Carol Schneider in 1966. He worked for the federal government for many years, with the post office, national park service and the fish and wildlife department. He liked to travel, sports, especially the Packers, playing cards and spending time with family and friends. Robert will be deeply missed by all.
He is survived by his daughter, Susan C. Pfaff of Lakewood Colo.; stepdaughter Lisa (Dave) Devenport of Phoenix Ariz.; former wife Carol Gravning; nieces and nephews Wayne Laubenstein, Carol (Craig) Larsen, Carl Laubenstein, Dennis Laubenstein and David (Sharon) Laubenstein; other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Ruth Laubenstein.
A memorial service in remembrance of Robert will be held on Monday, Sept. 16, 2013, at 7 p.m. at the Myrhum-Patten Funeral Home (1315 W. Washington St.) West Bend. Visitation will be Monday at the Funeral Home from 5 p.m. till the time of service. Burial will be at Washington County Memorial Park, West Bend, at a later date.
