Gerald Schickert


Gerald “Jerry” Schickert of the town of Herman passed away on Thursday, Sept. 19, 2013, at Kathy Hospice in West Bend. He was 82 years old.

He was born Sept. 17, 1931, in the town of Polk to Ray and Belinda (nee Sauer) Schickert. He married Betty Mae Collett on May 9, 1953, at St. Kilian Catholic Church in Hartford.

Jerry was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church. He worked for the West Bend Co. for 45 years. He spent 35 years as a hand polisher and 10 as a material handler. He loved mowing his lawn and making his yard pristine. He was in the Sunday morning bowling league for 30 years. He enjoyed playing cards. Jerry was a volunteer firefighter for the Allenton Fire Department for more than 50 years.

He is survived by his children, Sue M. Schickert of West Bend, Diana (David) Rosbeck of West Bend, Bonnie (Tom) Dylak of Horicon, Jeff Schickert (Special Friend Sandy) of Iron Ridge and Ray (Janet) Schickert of Hartford; six grandchildren, Sheila (Brad) Herman, Courtney Krapfl, Dana (Kevin) Gutkowski, Kyle Rosbeck, Cindy Forsberg and Adam Forsberg; a great-grandchild Brayden Herman; his stepsisters Connie Weiss of West Bend and Marilyn Cleary of Hartford; stepsister-in-law Louise Held of Hartford; his sisters-in-law Elayne Hefter of West Bend, Carol (Paul) Wolff Sr. of Hartford and Peggy (Doyle) Anderson of Riverside, Calif.; and his brother-in-law Joe Faust of Hartford. He is further survived by other relatives and friends.

Jerry was preceded in death by his wife Betty, his parents, stepfather Herbert Held, and other relatives and friends.

Family will greet relatives and friends on Monday, Sept. 23, 2013, at the Shimon Funeral Home, Hartford from 4-7 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial for Jerry will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2013, at 10 a.m. at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, St. Lawrence, with the Rev. Davies Edaffery officiating.

Interment will be in St. Lawrence Cemetery, St. Lawrence.
