Oct. 7, 1924 -- Nov. 23, 2014
Marie Amelia Spuhler (nee Hagen) of Hartford was born to eternal life on Sunday, Nov. 23, 2014 at her home, surrounded by her family. Marie was 89 years old. She was born Oct. 7, 1925, in rural Huilsburg to Hugo and Alma (nee Dais) Hagen. Marie grew up on the family farm and learned the quality of hard work, family values, and was very strong in her faith. She completed the eighth grade education in Rubicon and then continued to live and work on the family farm until she met the love of her life. Marie was united in marriage to Burnell J. Spuhler on Oct. 5, 1946, at St. Kilian Parish in Hartford. Burnell and Marie raised seven children and together they nurtured and taught them those same precious values.
Marie enjoyed family weddings, polka music, Frank Sinatra, watching the Brewers and spent many hours crocheting. She also had a talent to fix just about anything and enjoyed refinishing furniture. Her greatest contribution to this world was raising and nurturing her seven children, 19 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Marie is survived by her seven loving children; Mary Ann (Don) Hebbring of Wisconsin Dells, David (Jamie) Spuhler of Hartford, Joan (Ken) Weber of Wisconsin Dells, Diane (Don) Callies of Rubicon, Michael (Julie) Spuhler of Hartford, Lori (Jim) Shea of Glendale and Paul Spuhler of West Bend; grandchildren Don, Melissa, Kari, Tessa, Jenna, Ashley Hebbring, Jessica (Steve) Jost, Jeremy (Angela) Spuhler, Katie (Steve) Koets, Andy (Alecka) and Timothy Weber, Crystal, Amelia Callies, Cora, Brian and Sara Spuhler, Adam, Brianna, and Collin Shea; great-grandchildren Marlee, Daisy Hebbring, Kylie, Jalen and Cayden Spuhler, Tanner Resch, Teagan, Tayven Jost, Connor and Benjamin Koets, and Trey Kaul; siblings Georgianna Brath, Gertrude Werner, LaVerne (Don) Wendelborn and Carol Hagen.
