Evelyn M. Korth, 95

Evelyn M. Korth of Columbia, Missouri, was called home by our Holy Father on Dec. 11, 2014, surrounded by family.

Memorial service will be held at Memorial Funeral Home, on Saturday, Dec. 20, 2014, beginning at 1 p.m. Gathering of family and friends will be from noon until time of service.

She was born on July 7, 1919, to Anna (Daniel) and Earl Herdrich in Beaver Dam.

Evelyn graduated from St. Agnes School of Nursing in 1942. She served as an Army nurse in World War II stationed in Trinidad with the 359 Station Hospital. Many years later, a trip to Washington, D.C., with the Honor Flight of Mid-Missouri was a highlight of her aging years. She married Arnold J. Korth in 1948. Evelyn was a licensed nursing home administrator and director of nursing for Washington County Home and Hospital, and she worked for the state of Wisconsin surveying nursing homes.

Evelyn held local, state, and national posts with the Ladies Auxiliary to the VFW Post and Auxiliary 8339. She was awarded the honor of Wisconsin State Department President of the Year in 1970. Evelyn was also actively involved in and served as president with The Parish Council of Catholic Women, and Forsyth Lioness Club. Most recently, Evelyn was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and the Terrace Red Hat Club.

Evelyn had a wonderful sense of humor and made friends easily. She was a natural leader who loved to socialize, knit, play cards, watch the St. Louis Cardinals and have fun!

Evelyn is survived by her daughters Margaret (Joseph) Mangini and Mary Korth (Brian) Lloyd; a daughter-in-law Donna Korth; grandchildren, Tina (Tony) Peterson, Cortney (Kody) Gilbow, Thomas Korth, Brian Lloyd II, Francesca Mangini, Joseph (Jennifer) Mangini; 12 great-grandchildren; a sister Lorraine Guill; godchild and niece Paula (David) Doyle; and many nieces and nephews.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold Korth; son James Korth; her parents; a brother and sister-in-law Robert and Martha Herdrich; a brother-in- law, Eugene Guill; a godchild and niece, Kathy Lang; seven sisters-in-laws; one brother-in-law; and nieces and nephews in the Korth family.
