John H. Swanson, 84

John H. Swanson, 84, of West Bend, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 14, 2014, at his home in hospice care.

He was born on May 28, 1930, in St. Paul, Minnesota, the son of the late Herbert and Gertrude (Hablutzel) Swanson, and on Sept. 22, 1953, he was united in marriage to Lucille Gall in St. Paul, Minnesota.

John proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was the Past Commander of VFW Post 6498. He was a member of Korean War Vets, Montgomery and Daylight Masonic lodges, and Peace United Church of Christ in Kewaskum.

Those John leaves behind to cherish his memory include his beloved wife of 61 years, Lucille; three daughters, Ellen (Lowell) Szudajski of Branson, Missouri, Faith (Michael) Ryan of Brookfield and Ruth Swanson of Shenandoah, Virginia; four grandchildren, Aaron (Ashley) Szudajski, Gavin Szudajski, Amberlynn (Daniel) Olson and Taylor Ryan; two greatgrandsons, Wyatt and Austin Szudajski; three brothers, Ken (Eloise) Swanson, David (Katie) Swanson and Glenn (Nancy) Swanson, all of St. Paul, Minnesota; and a host of many other dear relatives and friends.

A memorial service for John will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 26, 2014, at Peace United Church of Christ in Kewaskum with the Rev. Gerald Schrankler officiating. Military honor rites will follow the service. Burial of his cremains will be at a later date in Wisconsin Memorial Park in Brookfield.

Johnís family will greet relatives at the church on Friday from noon until the time of services.
