Esther H. Hamm (nee Hoffmann), 94, of West Bend, passed away Monday, Dec. 29, 2014, at Cedar Lake Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born on Oct. 31, 1920, in West Bend to the late Edwin and Clara (nee Klaehn) Hoffmann and graduated from West Bend High School in the class of 1938.
On April 30, 1949, Esther was united in marriage to Merle Hamm at St. Johnís Ev. Lutheran Church where she was a life member. She was also a member of St. Johnís Ladies Aid.
Esther worked in the bookkeeping department of the West Bend Savings & Loan for many years, retiring in 1986. She enjoyed summers on Little Cedar Lake, gardening, traveling and spending time with her family.
She is survived by two children, Charles (Noel) Hamm of Apex, North Carolina, and Sandy (Greg) Nowicki of West Bend; six grandchildren, Carl (Sylwia) Hamm, Karalynn (Adam) Kline, Erick Hamm, Jennifer Nowicki, Peter Nowicki and Sarah Nowicki; four great-grandchildren, Alise Hamm, Eva Hamm, Colin Hamm and Adynn Kline; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents Edwin and Clara; and her husband, Merle in 1964.
Funeral services in remembrance of Esther will be held on Friday, Jan. 2, at 11 a.m., at St. Johnís Ev. Lutheran Church (809 S. Sixth Ave.) West Bend. The Rev. Jeff Dorth will officiate. Visitation will be at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow in Washington County Memorial Park.
