Georgianne LaSure Maahs, 93, of Sun Lakes, Ariz., passed away on March 25, 2014, at Hospice of the Valley in Gilbert, Ariz. After having lived most of her life in Hartford, and being a winter visitor to Arizona for 18 years, she and her surviving husband Elgardt H. (Bud) Maahs moved to Arizona permanently in 2012. They recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary.
Georgianne was born May 24, 1920, to Floyd and Edith LaSure. She attended Carroll College in Waukesha, graduated from St. Lukes School of Nursing in Racine, became a registered nurse and married Elgardt (Bud) Maahs in 1949.
In addition to being a loving wife and mother, she was involved in numerous church and civic activities. Her special interests included St. Aidanís Episcopal Church, DAR, Garden Club, Lioness and bridge.
Georgianne is survived by her loving husband, Elgardt (Bud), her loving daughters: Sally Maahs, Susan (Michael) Allen and son-inlaw Glenn Rix. She is also survived by her four precious grandchildren, Scott (Danielle) Kwaterski, Stephen (Laura) Kwaterski, 1st Lt. Jonathan Rix USMC and Kathryn Allen, and three dearest great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by her daughter Betsy Rix.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, April 10 at St. Aidanís Episcopal Church, 670 Monroe Ave., Hartford. Family will receive relatives and friends from 11 a.m. time of service at 1 p.m. at church. The Rev. Anna Doherty and the Rev. Mike Tess will officiate. Interment will be at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in Phoenix.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Carroll University in Waukesha, St. Aidanís Episcopal Church in Hartford or the Hospice of the Valley in Phoenix.
