Patrick H. ‘Pat’ Kearns, 82|
Patrick H. “Pat” Kearns, 82, formerly of Brown Deer, died Monday, Feb. 10, 2014, at Cedar Springs Health and Rehabilitation Center in Cedarburg, where he had resided the past few months.
He was born on Feb. 5, 1932, in Port Washington, the son of Patrick H. and Ester Dittmar Kearns. At the age of 7, his father, employed by Wisconsin Electric at the Port Washington Power Plant, was transferred to their Oak Creek operation.
Residing in the Milwaukee area, Pat entered the U.S. Army after high school. He served his country from August 1952 to August 1954, attaining the rank of sergeant.
Upon his return, Pat married and started a family. For more than 20 years, he was a marketing and sales executive with the Koehring Co. He and his family moved quite often regarding his job, taking them to Michigan and back, amongst others. In 1975, Pat and his wife purchased the local grocery store in Fredonia, naming it Kearns Grocery. After a few years, they sold it and, with two of his friends, Pat started KMK Industries. They specialized in corporate marketing and displays for companies throughout southeastern Wisconsin. He retired in 1999.
Pat enjoyed a good story and the camaraderie of family and friends. He often talked of his travels, both nationally and internationally. He flew to see his children when they lived and worked abroad and for his work, Pat took great pleasure in sharing the stories with others.
He is survived by his children, Timothy Kearns of Port Washington, Patrick (Ai-Wen) Kearns of Delavan and Kelly (Lee) Kearns-Morton of Oviedo, Fla.; five grandchildren, Laura (Brandon) Kearns-Garofalo, Jessica, Haley, Grace and Mark Morton; four great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Brandon, Marilyn and Helena; his former spouse, Bea Kearns of Cedarburg; his sister, Patsy Quartaro of Oconomowoc; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, George, Eddie and Jerry Rank.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014, at the Poole Funeral Home/Crematory, 203 N. Wisconsin St., Port Washington. Military honors will be led by the Ozaukee Memorial Post 5373 VFW. Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday prior to the service. Interment will take place at the Southeastern Wisconsin Veterans Cemetery in Union Grove. Memorials to the American Parkinson Disease Association - Wisconsin Chapter, P.O.
