Lorraine Neuenschwander, 94

Lorraine (Lohr) Neuenschwander, of Menomonee Falls, went home to The Lord on Monday, Feb. 17, 2014 at the age of 94. She was born in Hartford on Dec. 20, 1919, to Alfred Lohr and Irene (Amidon) Lohr. She married Alvin Neuenschwander in 1941 and supported him in building the family business, West Side Dairy, also in Hartford. They remained in Hartford until the 1960s, then moved several times until settling in Menomonee Falls in 1985.

Lorraine was an active member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Menomonee Falls. She took great pride in her role as wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Lorraine had many hobbies, but her true joy was being with family and friends. Although she faced many trials in life, she was an example of strength, courage, generosity and faith. She leaves as her legacy the importance of love for family, friends, and living out faith by following God's Word in our lives. Lorraine started each day by reciting Psalm 118, v. 24. “This is the day that the Lord has made. Let us rejoice & be glad in it.” A reminder to be grateful for every day the Lord gives you even in the most difficult of circumstances.

Lorraine is survived by her daughter Mary Riesland (Dave), of Lake Geneva; 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. As well as son-in-law, Robert Schraufnagel, and daughter-in-law, Sally Neuenschwander. She is preceded in death by husband Alvin; daughter Carole Schraufnagel; son Robert Neuenschwander; grandson John Schraufnagel; great grandson Christopher Schraufnagel; as well as her two brothers, Russell and Allen Lohr; and sister Janet Kuntz.

The family will be providing flowers for the service. Lorraine would appreciate memorials to her church home, she so dearly loved, Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Menomonee Falls.

Funeral service will be held ay 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 28, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, N84 W15252 Menomonee Avenue, Menomonee Falls. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Please contact Harder Funeral Home, Brookfield, for further details (262) 781-8350.
