Werner P. Lofy

Werner “Wernie” P. Lofy, 88, of Richfield, died peacefully on Friday, Jan. 10, 2014, at Community Memorial Hospital, in Menomonee Falls.

He was born in Richfield on March 12, 1925, to Walter and Catherine Aaron (Emily) Lofy, and Kevin Lofy; brother of Marlene (late John) Walterlin; brother-in-law of Francis (Mae) Mehringer; uncle of four nieces and one nephew. He is also survived by many other dear (nee Rettler) Lofy. Werner was united in marriage to Bernice Mehringer on June 13, 1953, at St. James Catholic Church in Lannon.

Werner was the fourth generation farmer on the Lofy homestead in Richfield. The farm was expanded by the family to the Hartford area in 1941. Werner and Bernice moved to that farm in 1953. He lived there until 1990, moving back to the original homestead in Richfield, where family and good times were plentiful.

Werner was the beloved husband of Bernice Lofy for 60 years; proud father of Sharon (Greg) Recker of West Bend and Scott (Patti) Lofy of Hartford; proud grandfather of four grandsons, Christopher (Gail) Recker, Steven Recker, relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law.

Mass of Christian Burial for Werner will be Monday, Jan. 13, 2014, at 6 p.m. at St. Lawrence Catholic Church (4886 Highway 175, Hartford, WI 53027) with the Rev. Davies Edassery officiating. The family will greet relatives and friends on Monday at the church from 3 p.m. until the time of Mass.

Private interment will take place in St. Lawrence Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Lawrence Catholic Church are appreciated.
