George Marquardt, 73

George Marquardt of Saukville passed away Wednesday morning, Jan. 15, 2014, at Lawlis Family Hospice in Mequon. He was 73 years old.

George was born Feb. 22, 1940, in La Crosse, the son of Martin and Nina Fish Marquardt. After high school, he proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1958 to 1963. On June 15, 1963, he was united in marriage with Pam Guist in Minneapolis.

George was a registered consulting engineer. He was a member of First Congregational Church, and a lifetime charter member of North Shore Marine Corps League Detachment 1289. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, gardening and woodworking.

George is survived by his wife, Pam, of Saukville; and their three daughters, Karen (David Jr.) Magnusson, Michele Marquardt, both of Saukville, and Heather Marquardt (Jordan Baumgart) of Madison. He is further survived by six grandchildren, Laura (Doug), Crystal, David III (Samantha), John (Sherri), Victoria and Jack; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Diana (Bob) Krug of Erin; mother-in-law, DeDe Guist, and sister-in-law, Kathi (Jim) Hinrichs-Pence, both of Oak Park Heights, Minn.; cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A funeral service was held on Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014, at 3 p.m. at First Congregational Church, 131 N. Webster St., Port Washington. Full military honors followed the service. The family received visitors at the church on Saturday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the North Shore Marine Corps League Detachment.
