“Don” F. Risch passed away suddenly on Thursday, March 6, 2014, at the
age of 94 Don was born on
Oct. 26, 1919, the son of Fred and Dorothy Risch. He married LaVerne
Rosenthal in 1946. During their 67 years together, they raised three
children: Gary (Karin), Bonnie (Norman) Leifer and Linde (Scott) Hinkel.
He is further survived by his grandchildren Jay (Kris) Risch, Mackenzie
(Rolando) Mazeriegoes, and Brian, Kevin, Jared, and Kelsey Hinkel; and
great-grandsons Owen and
Don served in the United States Air Force during World War II.
He completed an apprenticeship at Harnischfeger where he built and
operated overhead cranes and later retired from the Milwaukee Police
Department after 26 years of service.
He was a master gardener, turning a field into a summer showcase of color.
He met LaVerne playing tennis, and it was love-love ever since. LaVerne
and he enjoyed their lives together sharing all the joys and pleasure life
brought them. They were truly partners in caring. For his children, Don
was a role model they could believe in. As a family, we shared much love
and happiness and those memories will live on. He will be dearly missed.
Visitation will be from 10-10:45 a.m. on Monday, March 10, 2014, at the
Phillip Funeral Home Chapel, 1420 W. Paradise Drive in West Bend. A
memorial service will follow visitation at 11 a.m. at the funeral home on
Monday, March 10, 2014, with Chaplain David Stone presiding.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to Partners in Caring of
