Dorothy Therese Bruss, 88

Dorothy Therese (nee Vey) Bruss of Grafton passed away peacefully at Lasata Care Center on March 6, 2014, at the age of 88.

Dorothy was born in the town of Grafton on July 27, 1925, the daughter of Adam “Art” and Alma (nee Koepke) Vey.  On March 29, 1941, at the young and tender age of 15, Dorothy was united in marriage to Louis J. Bruss. Dorothy worked for many years at Sprague/Cera-Mite before retiring in 1994. She had a great love for baking and cooking, doing embroidery with a set of pillows for each of her grandchildren. She enjoyed playing bingo at the casinos and church events and watching her favorite football team, the Green Bay Packers.

She looked forward to traveling to different states to see her son, who was in Virginia, and her sisters in Wyoming and everything in between. She was a happy person with a big smile for all and had a great sense of humor. Craft fairs, do we need to say more? She loved the holidays, especially Christmas. She enjoyed watching the grandchildren open their gifts, baking cookies, making candies – it definitely was her most joyful time of year.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Dianne (Richard) Becker, Howard (Barbara) Bruss, Helen (Pete) Frost, Dennis (Peggy) Bruss, Neil (Carol) Bruss, Michael (Dee Dee) Bruss and Thomas; siblings, Victor, James, Terry, Rose, Marlene, Mary, Marcy and Lucy; 24 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Louis; grandsons, Scott Becker and Howard Bruss Jr.; brothers, Arthur Jr., John and Joseph; sisters, Elizabeth, Rita and Christine.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Saturday, March 8, 2014, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Parish in Grafton, with Father Michael Barrett officiating.  Interment will be at Holy Angels Catholic Church in West Bend. Visitation was at the church on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated.
