Ernest J. Pochert, 90


Ernest J. Pochert, 90, passed away on Tuesday, March 11, 2014.

He was born in Milwaukee on Aug. 23, 1923, to Ernst and Rose (nee Mor) Pochert and graduated from Custer High School. After high school, he entered the Army Air Corps serving during World War II. He then married Loretta (nee Beal) on Feb. 23, 1946, and they raised their family in Milwaukee.

Ernest retired from Wisconsin Telephone Co. as an engineer.

He enjoyed metal detecting, rock polishing, fishing, playing card games and spending time with family. He volunteered as “Father Fire” at Riveredge Nature Center during maple syrup season. Ernest was a member of Saukville VFW Landt-Thiel Post 470.

Ernest is survived by his children, Lauralyn (Jim) Klarich, Carolyn Pochert, Christine (Michael) Putwen; grandchildren, Jennifer (Bill) Gienke, David (Odessa) Klarich, Laura and Sara Putwen; great-grandchildren, Ben, John, Jackie and Kevin Gienke, and Gage Klarich. He is further survived by a niece, nephew, other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his wife, parents, siblings, and siblings-in-law.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, March 14, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church (521 Congress St., Newburg, WI 53090) with the Rev. Kevin Kowalske presiding. The visitation will be at the church from 9:30-1 0:45 a.m. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Milwaukee.
