Esther Vore, 97|
Esther Vore (nee Hartmann), 97, of West Bend died peacefully on
Thursday, March 13, 2014, at the Friendship House at Cedar Community.
She was born April 2, 1916, in Watertown to the William and Matilda (nee
Toepke) Hartmann and married Richard C. Vore on Feb. 19, 1938, at St.
Johnís Lutheran Church in Watertown. Dick preceded her in death on Oct.
Esther was employed at Pick Manufacturing during World War II before
working at Amity Leather. She then worked for many years with her
husband at the West Bend Co., retiring in 1979. Following their
retirement they enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and
Europe. She also enjoyed playing cards, especially poker and sheepshead.
She loved to work in her garden and enjoyed spending time outdoors. She
has been a resident of Cedar Community for many years both at Cedar
Ridge and the Friendship House.
Esther is survived by her children, Leon (Mary) of West Bend and LuAnne
Salmon of West Bend, eight grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and one
great-great-grandchild. She is further survived by her sister-in-law
Helen Fuge of West Bend, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and
She is preceded in death by her husband, Richard, her parents, William
and Tillie Hartmann, and three brothers: Herbert, Elmer and Harvey.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 15, 2014, at 11 a.m. at
Trinity Lutheran Church in West Bend where she was a longtime member.
The Rev. David Schoob will officiate. Burial will follow in Washington
County Memorial Park. Visitation will be Saturday, at the church only
from 9:30-10:45 a.m. Memorials to Trinity Lutheran Church or the
Cottages at Cedar Run are appreciated.
