Victor E. Doers, 81

Victor E. Doers of Theresa, formerly of Port Washington, passed away early Monday, March 24, 2014, at Hope Health and Rehabilitation in Lomira. He was 81 years old. Vic was born Nov. 13, 1932, in Gordon, the son of Victor and Jessie Crum Doers. On July 7, 1951, he was united in marriage with Carolyn “Pat” Preisler at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Port Washington. She preceded him in death in 1988. On Dec. 16, 1989, he was united in marriage with Susan Brabender at St. John’s Lutheran Church in West Bend. For 37 years, Vic worked at Wisconsin Electric (now WE Energies) as a senior maintenance mechanic. He proudly belonged to the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 317. Vic was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in West Bend, a co-founder of the Lakeland Family Campers from Port Washington, a member of the Square Benders in Milwaukee, and a past president of the EMBA through Wisconsin Electric. He was an avid Packer fan who loved westerns, reading, traveling all 50 states, doing jigsaw puzzles and visiting his cabin in Amberg.

Vic is survived by his wife Sue of Theresa and his children: Sharon (the late Donald) Carpenter, Vicki (Alejandro Sr.) Montanez, both of West Bend, Dorothy (David) Broughton of Fredonia, Randall (Mary) Doers of McFarland, the late Linda (Marvin) Young and Cindy Doers, both of West Bend. He is further survived by 18 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, his sisters: Arlene (Fred) McCraw of Port Washington and Ruth (Curt) McCumber of Crystal Falls, Mich., sister-in-law Diane Doers of Port Washington, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his wife Carolyn “Pat,” an infant daughter, grandson Zach Carpenter and two brothers: Alan Doers and Vernon (Virginia) Doers.

Funeral services will be held at noon on Thursday, March 27, 2014, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 809 S. Sixth Ave. in West Bend. He will be laid to rest at Union Cemetery in Port Washington. The family will receive visitors at the church on Thursday from 9 a.m.-noon. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested.
