Gerald Haessly, 85, a resident of Spooner, died peacefully at his home on Thursday, Dec. 25, 2014.

Gerald was born in Campbellsport, on Jan. 11, 1929, to parents Victor and Irene Haessly.

On Oct. 22, 1949, Gerald was united in marriage to Janis Marie Sonnenberg in West Bend. Together they had six children.

Gerald served in the Army during World War II and was discharged in 1947 as a corporal. He also served in the Air Force Reserve until 1950.

He and his family moved to Phillips, in 1978, where he owned and operated Haessly’s Red and White, and then moved to Spooner, in 1985, where he has resided since, and worked for PAI as a salesman.

Gerald was an accomplished woodworker and created many heirloom pieces. He also built larger projects as he also enjoyed carpentry.

Gerald is survived by his six children, 10 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, by his companion/ special friend Ruth Halvorson and her family of six children, 17 grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren.

Gerald is preceded in death by his parents and wife Janis.

A Committal Service with military honors will take place at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Friday, Jan. 9, 2015, at 2 p.m.
