Carol J. Denig nee GarrettCarol J. Denig, nee Garrett of West Bend died on Saturday, Jan. 3, 2015, in Grayslake, Illinois, at the age of 87 years. She was born on Dec. 16, 1927, in Milwaukee to the late Logan and Rose (nee Bosch) Garrett). She attended local schools and graduated from West Allis Central High School.

On Aug. 19, 1950, she was united in marriage to Richard H. Denig in West Allis. Richard predeceased Oct. 6, 1997.

In 1966, the family moved to Illinois and returned to the Milwaukee area in 1975. For a short while, they then lived in Towson, Maryland. They later moved back to West Allis before settling in West Bend.

Carol enjoyed various types of music, including big band, swing and jazz. She also was a member of a number of area social clubs.

Carolís greatest joy was to spend time with her family and friends. She was a gracious hostess and always made sure everyone had what they needed. She was very appreciative of the time she was able to spend with everyone.

Survivors include three children Gregg (Lorna) of Grayslake, Illinois, Joan (David) Gauger of West Bend and Michelle; grandchildren Kathleen (Paul) Jopa of La Grange, Illinois, Nathan Denig of Grayslake, Illinois, Bryan Denig of Ithaca, New York, Krista Gauger of West Bend, Amy Gauger of Milwaukee and Jacob Denig of Hawaii; great-grandchildren Chi Denig, Gabriel Gauger and Cadence Holihan; one brother Roscoe Garrett of Lake Forest, Illinois; two sisters-in-law Dolores Foch of Titusville, Florida, and Jeanette Denig of Florida; other relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son Dennis.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, Jan. 9, at 11 a.m. at St. Maryís Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with the Rev. Enrique Hernandez presiding. Burial will be at 2 p.m. in St. Adalbertís Cemetery, Milwaukee. The family will greet relatives and friends during a period of visitation at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass.
