Richard L. Austin of Slinger passed away Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2015, at the age of 68 years.
Richard’s family often describes him a as “Southern gentleman.”
He married Teresa Keenan on Aug. 2, 1966, in Milwaukee.
He served his country in the U.S. Navy.
Richard enjoyed hunting, and was an accomplished gunsmith and a lifetime member of the NRA. He was a past member of Hartford Conservation Gun Club and a member of Hartford American Legion Post.
Richard will also be known as someone who took great pride in everything he tried.
He will be deeply missed by his family.
He is survived by his loving wife, Teresa (nee Keenan) of 48 years; his loving children, Cheryl (John) Hercules, Richard A. Jr., Robert and Raymond (Julie) Austin; his loving grandchildren, Pamela and Kristina Hercules, Dakota Espita, Jesse James Austin, Richard Austin III and Brittany Austin; and great-granddaughter Brittany Espita. He is also survived by his sisters Mary (Tim) Hart and Jeanine (Lou) Fairfield, his brother James (Kathy) Austin, and sister-in-law MaryLee Austin.
Also surviving are nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his daughters, Jennifer and Dawn, his brother Al Austin, and parents.
Visitation is Saturday, Jan. 10, from 10 a.m.-noon at St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran Church, 799 St. Paul Drive, Slinger. Funeral service will follow at noon at church. The Rev. James A. Castillo will officiate. Interment will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
