Lorna M. Waechter, 97, of West Bend, formally of Jackson, passed away peacefully on Tuesday,
Jan. 13, 2015, at the Cedar Lake Health and Rehabilitation Center in the town of West Bend. Lorna was born on Oct. 11, 1917, in the town of Jackson to the late Henry and Kathryn (nee Hembel) Waechter. In her younger years, Lorna enjoyed traveling extensively.
She was an elementary school teacher for many years working in Rockfield, Goldedale, and Menomonee Falls. She was also a principal and librarian.
Lorna was a member of New Hope United Church of Christ in Jackson as well as the Washington County Retired Teachers Association, the Wisconsin Retired Teachers Association, the Wisconsin State Genealogy Society, the Milwaukee County Genealogical Society, the Wisconsin Old Cemetery Society, the Washington County Historical Society and the Jackson Historical Society.
Lorna is survived by her nieces and nephews, Patricia (Richard) Ohme, Brian (Lori) Waechter, Henry J. (Jo) Waechter, Robert (Shelli) Waechter, Susan (Terry) Keller and Judy (Jim) Sullivan; as well as other relatives and friends. Lorna was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Violet Hardt; and her brother, Henry Edward Waechter. A funeral service in remembrance of Lorna will be held on Friday, Jan. 16, 2015, at 11 a.m. at the Myrhum — Patten Funeral Home in West Bend. The Rev. James Hill will officiate and burial will be in Peace Cemetery in the town of Jackson. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m.
In honor of Lorna’s wishes, memorials to the Jackson Historical Society, the Washington County Historical Society or Columns would be greatly appreciated.
