She was 93 years old.
Olga was born in Milwaukee to James and Mignonette Makkos on May 30,
1921, and married Roy Schmidt on April 22, 1944. They were blessed with
47 years of marriage and two sons, Allen (Audrey) and James (Ruth).
Al and Jim adored their mom and Audrey and Ruth couldn’t have asked
for a better mother-in-law. Roy and Olga were also blessed with two
granddaughters, Carolyn (Joseph) Delheimer and Jennifer (Ian)
Her happiest times were spent with her family. Carrie and Jenny have
so many wonderful memories of Grandma, including taking them to
special shows and out to eat. Living almost 94 years, Olga also got to
enjoy her five great-grandchildren, Jamey and Josephine Lilyquist,
Kaylee, Brooklyn and Dylan Delheimer.
People who knew Olga usually used one word to describe her: sweet.
Olga was a great listener and a caring and generous person.
She was a woman of faith who loved her Lord and His church, enjoyed
Bible studies and kept her family close in her prayers. Even at 93,
Olga looked forward to the Tuesday Bible studies every week at Our
Late in life, Olga went to work and retired at age 70, after 10
years as an executive secretary at Square D.
At age 80, life changed greatly for Olga when she lost most of
her sight from macular degeneration. She was not one to complain and
never lost the smile on her face.
Special thanks to Our House for the loving care she received.
Olga was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Roy and sister,
Lorraine. She leaves behind her sister, Nancy; and brother-in-law,
Eugene Adams; her sister-in-law, Doris Schmidt, nieces, nephews and
other relatives and friends.
Thank you, God, for the life of Olga and all our dear memories.
We know she is at peace with you and we will miss her.
