Hilbert ‘Hilly’ Robel, 96

Hilbert 'Hilly' RobelHilbert “Hilly” Robel, age 96, passed peacefully into eternal life on March 17, 2015. He spent most of his life in Mequon, later moving to Cedarburg, where he attended First Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Hilly married Marge (nee Friede) in September 1945. They were blessed with three daughters, Joyce (Charles Krimmer), Phyllis (Jim Ewert) and Nancy (Jim Sieber); seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Mr. Robel served our country in World War II from 1941 to 1945. He later told his family and friends that it was his greatest lesson in growing up. Mr. Robel became the owner of Mequon Electric, which he operated until his retirement. He served as a Mequon alderman, acting mayor, auxiliary police officer and a 70-year member and past commander of the Mequon American Legion Post 457.

Hilbert 'Hilly' RobelHis favorite pastimes were spent on a fishing boat or hunting game, both near and far. Mr. Robel was preceded in death by his wife, Marge; daughter, Joyce; brothers, Herb and Franklin; and sisters Esther, Anita and Alice.

A service with military honors will be held at Wisconsin Memorial Park, 13235 W. Capitol Drive, Brookfield promptly at 2 p.m., Friday, March 27, 2015. A visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until the time of the service. Pastor Tim Seban of First Immanuel Lutheran Church will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to American Legion Post 457, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Wounded Warrior Project or First Immanuel.

Hilly will be remembered for his love of helping others and his years of volunteer work.
