Imelda R. “Mel” Dorau, formerly Vey, of Cedarburg, passed away at Lasata Care Center on March 23, 2015, at the age of 90 years.
A funeral service will take place on Saturday, March 28, 2015, at 1 p.m. at Mueller Funeral Home in Grafton, with Rev. Brent Halverson presiding. A visitation will take place prior to the service on Saturday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Memorials in Mel’s name can be made to the charity of your choice. Mel was born on July 9, 1924, in Milwaukee, the daughter of Joe Welzein and Rose Welzein.
Mel had a great love for all animals, and she was the owner and operator of a bird farm, Rib Falls, for nearly 40 years.
Mel is survived by her children, Richard (Patricia) Vey and Sharon (Greg) Schauer; and grandchildren, Jesse (Mary) Vey, Rick Vey, Angela Vey, James Vey, Matthew Schauer and Megan Schauer. She is further survived by six great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends. Mel was preceded in death by her former husbands, Julius “Toots” Vey, Vern Kohlwey and Rueben Dorau. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her and loved her.
