Janis A. Oppermann|
Janis A. Oppermann (nee Kohn), age 69, of Kewaskum, was called home to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 23, 2015, at St. Joseph's Hospital in the town of Polk.
Janis was born on April 9, 1946, at St. Joseph's Hospital in West Bend to the late Clayton and Marie (nee Gatzke) Kohn. She was united in marriage to Leander Oppermann on May 1, 1965, at St. John Lutheran Church in New Fane. Janis worked for many years at Amity Leather Products in West Bend and later worked for several years as a manager of the Kewaskum Dairy Queen.
Janis was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She served as a den leader and cub master for her sonsí Cub Scout troop 3744 for many years. In her younger years, she enjoyed roller-skating and dancing. She also enjoyed being a member of the Red Hat Society.
Janis is survived by her husband of nearly 50 years, Leander; her three sons, Corey (Jennifer) Oppermann of Campbellsport, Shane (Melissa) Oppermann of West Bend, and Sheldon (Jess) Oppermann of Milwaukee; her two granddaughters, Lauren and Sara Oppermann of West Bend; three sisters-in-law, Sandra Harter of Campbellsport , Claudia Skrentny of Kewaskum, and Judith Oppermann of Kewaskum; two brothers- in- law, Ronald (Barbara) Oppermann of Campbellsport and Henry (Anne Carmichael) Oppermann of New Orleans; and many other relatives and friends.
Janis was preceded in death by her parents, Clayton and Marie; her brother, Clayton Kohn Jr.; and her brother-in-law, Kenneth Harter.
A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, April 28, 2015, at 4 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Church (New Fane). Burial will follow the service in St. John Lutheran Church Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church on Tuesday from 1 p.m. until the time of service at 4 p.m.
The family would like to extend their sincerest thank you to the staff of St. Joseph's Hospital and to the staff of Cedar Crossings Rehabilitation Center for the care that was given to Janis and her family. The family would also like to thank the numerous extended family and friends who also offered their care and support during this difficult time.
