Virginia A. Selsing (nee Funk), “Ginny,” age 91 of Hartford passed away on Tuesday, April 28, 2015, at the Majestic Heights Assisted Living in Hartford surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on Aug. 18, 1923 in in North Lake to Floyd and Laura (nee Staus) Funk. She was united in marriage to Charles Selsing on June 21, 1942, in Merton. She was a longtime member of Divine Savior Lutheran Church in Hartford. Ginny worked as a Sunday school teacher for more than 60 years and prior she worked more than 15 years for the Hartford elementary system as a cook. She loved baking, helping others and, most of all, spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandson.
Ginny is survived by her loving children, Sandra (Bill) Heintz of Connecticut, Susan (Dave) Roskopf of Hartford and Blaine (Rosemary) Selsing of Slinger; cherished grandchildren, Kelly Heintz, Shannon (Michael) De-Paoli, Kasey (Bradley) Herzberg, Stacy (special friend, Sean Burke) Selsing, Matthew (Michelle) Selsing, Leif (Malia) Selsing and Kory (Greg) Schaefer; cherished great-grandchildren, Autumn (Justin) Wilmot, Mason, Ty, Weston, Norah Selsing, Brayden, Aaron, Arabella Herzberg, Cierra, Jonathon, Virginia, Christina Burke, Rozalynn, Karlee Jo and Tustin Selsing; cherished great-great-grandson, Colton Wilmot; dear sisters, Lois (Donald) Ehley and Doris (Donald) Williams; and dear in-laws, Norma Funk and Dave (Betty) Scharf. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other treasured relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Laura Funk; beloved husband, Charles Selsing; twin brother, Merrill Funk; and brothers, Leland (Viola) Funk and Oliver (Mary Ann) Funk.
Funeral Services for Ginny will be held on Sunday, May 3, 2015, at 4 p.m. at Divine Savior Lutheran Church (3200 Highway K, Hartford) with the Rev. Douglas Stowe officiating. Family will greet relatives and friends at the church on Sunday from 2-4 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Divine Savior Lutheran Church or to the 1022 Club (1022 E. Sell Drive, Hartford, WI 53027) are appreciated.
Private interment will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Hartford.
Ginny’s family would like to thank her angels on earth, Lorie and Margo and rest of the staff at Majestic Heights in Hartford and also Robin, Sue and staff at the 1022 Club (adult day services program) in Hartford.
