Ralph A. Gehl, age 68, of Hartford passed away Monday, May 18, 2015, in his home. He was born on Feb. 10, 1947, in Hartford to Henry and Lucille (nee Langenecker) Gehl. Ralph was united in marriage to Janet Becker on April 19, 1974, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in St. Lawrence.
Ralph served in the United States Navy in Vietnam. He was a farmer and milk hauler for many years for Gehl and Gundrum Trucking. He was a long-time member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church. Ralph enjoyed the outdoors on his ATV, cutting wood, going up north and spending time with his treasured grandchildren. He also enjoyed working on antique tractors. He will be remembered fondly for his love of his family.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 41 years, Janet Gehl; loving children, Andy (Glenda) Gehl of River Falls, Nicole (John) Zuge of Hartford and Joseph (Steffanie) Gehl of Hartford; cherished grandchildren, Kailey, Max and Jack Gehl, Athena and Alton Zuge; dear siblings, Eileen Murray of Elroy, Florence (Gerald) May of West Bend, Richard (Judi) Gehl of Richfield, Marion Gehl of Germantown, Alan (Melanie) Gehl of Mayville, Ivan (Janean) Gehl of Germantown, Gloria Gehl of Hartford and Gary (Amy) Gehl of Hartford; and dear siblings-in-law, Judy Becker of Apache Junction, Arizona, Joanne (special friend, Gene Christman) Lawonn of Hartford and Roman (Chris) Becker Jr. of Hartford. Ralph is further survived by aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other loved relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Lucille Gehl; parents-in-law, Roman (Alice) Becker; and brothers-in-law, Gerald Von Haden and Dave Murray.
Mass of Christian Burial for Ralph will be held on Friday, May 22, 2015, at 6 p.m. at St. Lawrence Catholic Church (4886 Highway 175, Hartford, WI 53027) with the Rev. Davies Edassery officiating. Family will greet relatives and friends at church on Friday from 2-6 p.m.
Interment in St. Lawrence Catholic Cemetery in St. Lawrence on Saturday, May 23, 2015, at 9:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions made to the Milwaukee Veteranís Affairs Medical Center will be aiding those suffering from posttraumatic stress disorder.
