Daniel D. Yrigoyen, 81

Daniel Diego YrigoyenDaniel Diego Yrigoyen passed away peacefully surrounded by family on May 19, 2015. He was 81 years old.

Dan is survived by his wife, Carol (nee Lothery), of North Port, Florida; five children, Rick (Kandi) Yrigoyen of St. Francis, Kari (Joel) Barrick of Walker, Minnesota, Lynn (Dick) Mitroff of Williams Bay, Laura (Gordon) Reitz of West Bend and Dan (Maggie) Yrigoyen of Libertyville, Illinois;18 grandchildren; 10 greatgrandchildren; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his father, Pedro Yrigoyen; his mother, Theresa (nee Pando) Hernandez; his three brothers, Diego “Jim” (Geraldine “Gerry”) Yrigoyen, Frank “Kiki” (Mary) Yrigoyen and Peter (Carol) Yrigoyen; and his sister, Gloria (Joseph “Lou”) Alonso.

Dan was born on Aug. 12, 1933, in Chicago to Pedro and Theresa Yrigoyen. Beginning at an early age, he worked at the Yrigoyen Co. family foundry, which shaped his future. He graduated from Austin High School in Chicago, where he met his future wife, Carol. After graduation, he attended Wright Junior College and the Art Institute of Chicago. In 1953, he became a partner at the Yrigoyen Co., working closely with his dad and three brothers. On Dec. 5, 1953, he and Carol were married at the United Presbyterian Church in Chicago.

In 1955, he and Carol moved to Leyden Township, Illinois, where they welcomed four children into their lives. He eventually went to work for ADM (later Ashland Chemical), which transferred him to Mahtomedi, Minnesota, where they completed their family by welcoming another son. While in Minnesota, he enjoyed golfing, boating, tennis, hunting and fishing with his family and friends. Dan stayed in the foundry resin business, eventually retiring as President of DeltaHA in 2000 while living in West Bend. After retiring, he and his wife, Carol, moved to North Port, Florida, where they continued to enjoy the wonderful life they had built together with family and friends.

Dan will be remembered as a good businessman, a talented artist, a good athlete and, most importantly, a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and uncle.

A celebration of his life is scheduled on Saturday, June 20, 2015, from noon-3 p.m. at the Lincolnshire Marriott (10 Marriott Drive, Lincolnshire, IL 60069). Condolences can be sent to 4250 Fairway Place, North Port, FL 34287.
