William F. Johnson, 66

William F. Johnson of the town of Polk died on Thursday, May 28, 2015, at the Lawlis Family Hospice at Columbia St. Maryís Hospital in Mequon at the age of 66. He was born on Sept. 1, 1948, in Hartford to William H. and Natalie (nee Mlodzik) Johnson.
Bill grew up in Slinger, attending St. Peterís Catholic Grade School, and graduated from Slinger High School with the class of 1966.
During the Vietnam War, he served with the United States Army. Following his discharge in 1970, he returned to Slinger.
For more than 40 years, he was employed with the village of River Hills as a mechanic in the public works department.
Billís lifelong passion was racing. He was very active and involved in dirt-track and short-track racing throughout the area.
Survivors include four children, Jill (John) Koenings of Beaver Dam, Sara (Mike) Vossekuil of Iron Ridge, Vicki Johnson of Hartford and Joseph (Brittany) Johnson of Hartford; 11 grandchildren, Tristan, Kali, Alex, Preston, Frank, Brooklyn, Jaelyn, Brayden, Blake, Chase and Bristol; his mother, Natalie Johnson of Slinger; one sister, Julie Johnson of West Allis; one brother, Tom (Judy) Johnson of Slinger; other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jeanette, in infancy, and his father, William.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, June 5, at 7 p.m. at the Schmidt Funeral Home in West Bend with Mr. Daniel Schroeder officiating. The family will greet relatives and friends at the funeral home on Friday from 4-6:45 p.m.
