Marion H. Scheunemann, 92

Marion H. Scheunemann (nee Kiekhaefer), age 92, of West Bend passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 2, 2015, at the Cottages at Cedar Run. She was born Sept. 27, 1922, in the town of Mequon to Arnold and Clara (nee Wessel) Kiekhaefer and married Wallace E. Scheunemann, M.D. on Sept. 6, 1947, at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mequon. Wallace preceded her in death on May 18, 1994.

Marion will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her family and faith were the foundations of her life. Marion worked side by side with her life partner, Wallace, in establishing and supporting his ophthalmic medical practice in West Bend from 1953-87.

Devoted to her family, Marion eagerly prioritized her time to be involved in the lives of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She taught values by example, displaying compassion, kindness, warmth and humility. She instilled the importance of education, hard work and enjoyment of life.

Marion’s dedication extended into the West Bend community. She was a longtime volunteer with the Partners of St. Joseph’s Hospital and Our Savior’s Lutheran Church.

Marion was an avid golfer and bridge player, enjoying the competition, challenge and camaraderie. Her membership at West Bend Country Club brought her many hours of pleasure, playing her last round of golf at age 89. In addition to golfing Marion was steadfast in her YMCA workouts.

She is survived by her daughters, Jean (Robert) Garlock of Memphis, Tennessee, Mary (John) Rozek of West Bend and Kay (David) Eggert of Appleton; 10 grandchildren, Andrew (Patricia) Schacht, Matthew (fiancée Elizabeth) Schacht, Katharine (Timothy) Hannigan, Brian (Jennifer) Weis, Elizabeth (Matthew) Roe, Sarah (Jeffrey) Janz, Charles (Katie) Eggert, Emily (Adam) Olson, Peter (Katelyn) Eggert and Elizabeth Eggert; four step grandchildren, Lisa (John) Degnitz, Bob Rozek, Ryan (Rachel) Garlock and Staci (fiancé Dan) Garlock; her great-grandchildren, Anna, Emily, Andrew, Madeline, Nathan, Zoe, Gabriel, Miriam, Nolan, Lena, Will, Jack and Henry; and her step-great-grandson, Mason. She is further survived by her sister-in-law, Ellen Doyle and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Wallace; her parents, Arnold and Clara Kiekhaefer; and her six siblings, E. Carl (Frieda) Kiekhaefer, Palma (Bill) Moerschel, Almira (Fred) Westendorf, Isabel (John) Gottinger, Ruth (Wilmer) Pike and Florence (Charlie) Biever.

Funeral services will be held Friday, June 5, 2015, at 11:30 a.m. at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in West Bend. Burial will be held in Washington County Memorial Park. The family will greet visitors at the church on Friday from 9:30-11:15 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Wallace and Marion Scheunemann Scholarship Fund at the Washington County Campus Foundation are appreciated.
