Milton C. Quandt, 94
April 29, 1921 -- June 2, 2015
Milton C. Quandt, age 94 of Hartford (formerly of Woodland), passed away on Tuesday, June 2, 2015, at the Gardens of Hartford surrounded by his loving family.
Milton was born on April 29, 1921, in Woodland to Gustav and Clara (nee Steinberg) Quandt. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Johnís Lutheran Church in Woodland, where he had been a member all of his life. He attended Parochial School and the Woodland Grade School. He graduated from Mayville High School in 1939 and continued his lifelong career as a farmer. He was united in marriage to Ardis Schaefer on July 17, 1943, at St. Johnís Lutheran Church in Mayville. They were blessed with four children, John, Donald, June, and Jayne.
Milton is survived by his beloved wife of 71 years, Ardis Quandt; loving children, John (Yolanda) Quandt of Las Vegas, June (Daniel) Strobel of Hustisford, and Jayne (Mark) Kitzerow of Oak Creek; daughter-in-law, Geralyn Quandt of Madison; 10 cherished grandchildren; 10 treasured great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his parents-in-law, Robert and Lucy Schaefer; his sister, Verna and her husband, Lester Birr, and their children, Carolyn and Ronald; sister, Vinilda, and her husband, Wilbur Witte; his brothers-in-law, Harvey, Norbert and Delmar Schaefer; sister-in-law, Esther Schaefer; his son, Donald; premature twin boys born in 1946, and a premature daughter born in 1958. Milton, along with his family, spent his life on the homestead south of Woodland. He was a member of the Woodland Fire Department for 70 years. A special highlight in his life was that he had two hot air balloon rides ó one that launched from St. Johnís Cemetery, passing over St. Johnís Church and the family farm, and then landing southwest of Neosho. The other took off from the Hartford Airportís Balloon Rally, passing over the Industrial Park, Quad/Graphics and various parts of Hartford.
Milton was proud of his six family members that served in the armed forces, including tours in the United States, Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan.
Milton would like to thank Ralph and Lisa Weninger, who rented the land for many years and who are now purchasing the farm.
Funeral services for Milton will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2015, at 2 p.m. at St. Johnís Lutheran Church (W2489 Woodland Road, Woodland, WI 53099) with the Rev. Daniel Babinec officiating. Family will greet relatives and friends at the church on Saturday from 11 a.m.-2 p.m.
Interment will be in St. Johnís Lutheran Cemetery, Woodland.
